Best Cheap ASUS U35JC-XA1 Thin and Light 13.3-Inch Laptop

The ASUS U35JC-XA1 Thin and Light 13.3-Inch Laptop has it all: thin and light, long battery life, powerful CPU, dedicated graphics, and classy professional look. And all of this comes at a low price point compared to other laptops. The 13.3" form factor is ideal for a laptop that is not used as a desktop replacement. Also, this laptop is very good looking with the aluminum screen back and chicklet keyboard. In my ASUS U35JC-A1 I installed a 128GB Kingston SSD. Now in quiet office mode (one of the power saving modes) I never see the blue waiting circle, I legitimately get over 8 hours with wifi on, moderate web browsing, and working in Microsoft Office.

The ASUS U35JC-XA1 does have a couple minor annoyances, but they are not deal breakers by any means. The touchpad is not optimal in the factory settings but can be adjusted to work very well with all additional gestures (there are also driver updates available). There are a few case quality issues that a Mac user might notice but the average PC user will not, such as the palm rest can squeak and a very slight gap between the palm rest plastic and the plastic on the bottom of the laptop. Also, I do notice the CPU whine but this is only because the laptop is so quiet to begin with. The whine may be annoying if you like to work in perfect silence and have sensitive ears. The only real complaint I have is the battery is slightly loose and when I carry the computer by the back battery area there is some flex where the screen is not flush with the battery and top of the keyboard.

It may seem I spent a lot of time talking about the minor annoyances, but in the end they are very minor. They could be a deal breaker for finicky people (which is why I talked about them) but most PC users will never notice any of the small issues. The U35JC packs a lot of performance in a small ultraportable package that can directly compete with the MacBooks. My brother has a brand new 13 inch MacBook Pro and the ASUS U35JC is faster, lighter, and has longer battery life. The MacBook has better construction, better screen viewing angles, and a disk drive (however, I prefer no disk drive as they take up a ridiculous amount of space and weight for how little use they get). Also, the ASUS is $500 dollars cheaper. Overall, I would recommend the ASUS U35JC to anyone in need of a great all around laptop. This laptop makes a great looking professional or student PC that can do anything that 99% of users will ever need to do.

Virtual Private Network, VPN, WAN, computer network

Many businesses now use computer networks for a variety of reasons. And many of these make use of Virtual Private Network's, or as it is also known, VPN. VPN makes it possible for businesses to use their computer networks remotely, either at other offices, from home or elsewhere.

Many offices use a wide area network (WAN) to store files that employees need access to and employees can save files to this network. It is really the equivalent to saving files to a computer, but others on the network will also be able to gain access. There may be some parts of the network that only a specific user will be able to gain access to or a group of users, while some may be available to all those who have access to the network. Within some businesses employees will not always use the same computer, but they will still be able to gain access to their relevant files by logging on with their own username and password. The advantage of this type of system is that those who require access to any particular files can get it, while others can't. That is the case whether they work within the organisation or not. Outsiders will be unable to gain access.

This type of system works well for many businesses. Within the office this is fine and everyone can gain access to what they need. The problem comes when employees are not working from the office. They may be at a meeting and require access, they might be working from home or could be working from a different office. They could even be on the move wanting to work on the train, for example. This is where Virtual Private Networks (VPN) are useful. They make it possible for employees to gain access to the network wherever they are.

With VPN Server's the network is routed through the internet and users can be connected together and connected to the network. It uses virtual connections routed through the internet from the company's private network to the remote site, such as another office, or to the remote user, either to their home computer or laptop. This means that employees do not necessarily have to be in the office to be able to work. Of course, for some businesses this is almost crucial to be able to operate, while for other it means they are spared the odd inconvenience.

Virtual Private Network's can be a significant help to many businesses. For a variety of reasons it is not always possible for employees to be in the office and Virtual Private Networks allow them to be able to work without the inconvenience of not having access to the company's network.

Five Features That Make Windows 7 More User Friendly

Windows 7 is the latest OS released in 2009 by Microsoft which comes as a replacement of the previous, more problematic OS: Windows Vista. According to many users and specialists, Windows 7 is what Vista should have been a few years ago.

Although, Microsoft was focused on performance when developing the new OS, it didn't forget about features. Therefor Windows 7 is not only a better performer and more user-friendly than Vista, but also has some new glossy features which you can check out below:

The new Taskbar - this is the feature that people use most often. It combines the former "Ouick Launch" toolbar with the usual "Taskbar", offering only one place from where you can launch both applications, or switch between them.

Before we had the "Quick Launch" icons and text, now we have a raw of large icons, from where you can start an application or switch between applications by clicking left. If the application has only one window the switching is made directly, but if it has multiple windows, when clicking the new "Taskbar" icon a thumbnail view of each window is presented and a second click is needed to switch to a certain window.

Jump List - when right clicking on the large icons on the "new Taskbar ", a menu appears containing the most used applications. Also, you have the possibility to choose between actions.

Aero Desktop - is the nicest addition to Windows 7's interface, which allows you to see behind every opened window. Navigating between windows using the "Alt + Tab" combination has been improved by adding the "Aero Peek".

User Account Control - this is Microsoft's way to keep your PC safe from hackers, spam and phishing attacks. Every time you run a program and try to change something in System Files or Registry, a pop up windows appears asking if you allow or deny that action. The good thing about UAC is that in the Windows 7 version it's customizable: you can change one up to four settings. In Vista you had it or you didn't.

Networking - the most valuable addition to Networking is the "HomeGroup" feature. The new "HomeGroup" was created to make the sharing of files, folders or printers easier. The "HomeGroup" is protected by a password and you can set what files, folders and devices you want to share.

With this new UI features on top of the performance updates, Microsoft manages to gain the trust of the users or better said to regain that trust!
