RIM: BlackBerry is the Future of Tablet

Research In Motion (RIM) is not half-hearted in delivery tablet BlackBerry Playbook. Later, the operating system will spread Playbook BlackBerry handsets too.

Mike Lazaridis, Co-CEO of RIM, said the platform Playbook will be used on BlackBerry phones. Especially in the future, when mobile phones running multi-core processors are increasingly complex.

"With a focus on the tablet market, we saw an opportunity to drive the smartphone into anywhere," Lazaridis said in a conference 'D: Dive into Mobile' in San Francisco, which is quoted by Reuters on Wednesday (08/12/2010).

However, Lazaridis did not say exactly when the BlackBerry will use the operating system from the Playbook. 'When all use multi-core processors, all platforms will run Playbook, "he added.

The plan, the Playbook will be present at the beginning of 2011. Although RIM has not specified their targets, independent analysts estimate Playbook shipments will reach 2-4 million units a year.

Playbook run the operating system named BlackBerry Tablet OS. This system was developed from QNX, a microkernel operating system that was acquired in mid-2010 RIM.
